“The Legal Action Center announced the release of the new web tool State Profiles of Health Care Information for the Criminal Justice System, which includes state-by-state profiles with information about the health system and health coverage options that are available in each state and the District of Columbia.
The state profiles represent the culmination of a major research effort to identify the key health system agencies and points of contact in every state. The U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is partnering with the Legal Action Center (LAC), Advocates for Human Potential, and TASC, Illinois to provide technical assistance to justice and health professionals, and to disseminate information about innovative strategies for increased health care access for justice-involved populations enhancing efforts to improve public safety and justice outcomes.
The State Profiles of Health Care Information for the Criminal Justice System will assist justice practitioners with navigating the health care system and health coverage options in their state and links to agencies, which will assist them to take full advantage of health reform resulting in better outcomes for public safety and health.
